Key Ideas

  • What frugal eating actually is (and what it isn’t)

  • The biggest grocery shopping mistakes that blow up food budgets and why shopping without a plan leads to food waste and more takeout

  • Simple meal planning strategies that don’t require perfection

  • Planning just 3–4 meals a week and reusing ingredients among other tactics

  • Budget-friendly ways to get enough protein without expensive meat

  • Using pantry staples and frozen foods to save money

  • Being forgiving and flexible matters more than being “perfect”

Bonus Tip

Here is a bonus tip I didn't get to in the episode.

  • Going out to eat is a fun experience, but an expensive way to eat. Before going out to eat on Friday because it is “date night” consider asking why it has to be Friday. The food is the same on a Tuesday when many restaurants run specials or deals to attract customers. Plan your date or your eating out around savings and you’ll get the same great experience for a fraction of the cost!
