It is never to early to start talking to your kids about money. Building a strong financial literacy foundation is massively important. That’s why I brought on Crystina Cardozo to talk about how you can teach your own children about money AND maybe even apply some of this in the classroom too.

Key Ideas

  • Start teaching financial literacy concepts early, as young as toddlers (basics like wants vs needs).

  • Lead by example - kids notice and mimic parents' money habits.

  • Use physical money and real experiences (like running a lemonade stand) before introducing digital/abstract concepts.

  • Open an investment account for kids and show it to them so they can learn about compound growth.

  • Consider a Roth IRA for kids who work in your side business.

  • In the classroom, make sure you keep current on financial topics to address kids' questions knowledgeably as they come up.
